Whew – I’m sure I’ll say that many more times in my life, but when every day in a week blurs together, it’s hard to say anything but.
This week we had several adventures. It started out with Ian having a 48 hour barfing disease. The pediatrician wouldn’t even let Ian come in since he didn’t have a fever. I was told “There’s a virus (so no drugs) going around, try easy to eat food, if there’s any change call back”. Sort of frustrating. ‘Fraid I like it better when there’s a magical drug that makes Ian feel better. Then I got the virus, but mine was only 24 hours and no barfing. Then Pete got it for 48 hours with no barfing and much less pain than I got. I want to minimize the disease adventures in the future.
Next up was our first trip to the dentist on Wednesday. I took Ian to the same dentist I go to since I really like them. Ian did really well sitting in the chair and getting his teeth counted (we didn’t do the polishing since leaning back was not so much going to happen). Sadly, probably due to all the fevers when teething, he has two teeth that didn’t get the enamel fully formed. So he has two cavities (even though the hygiene was considered good). Of course the dentist recommended getting them filled (I would have too). So now, as Ian’s not ready go to through a filling process at a regular dentist, it’s off to a pediatric dentist for fillings. I’m trying to explain that our teeth need band-aids and that regular ones just don’t stick, so we have to get special ones called fillings. *sigh*. I’m kinda nervous since fillings only happen with laughing gas or IV sedation. I’d prefer laughing gas, but I think Ian will just say “that smells funny” and we’ll be stuck with IV sedation.
Then on Thursday, after holding in his poop from Tuesday and Wednesday, Ian finally pooped in the potty!!! Reward = Doc Hudson Car. The next day, Ian pooped in the potty at school. Since then he’s bee pooping in the potty!! I’m soo excited and proud of my little guy.
Next, on Friday I went to lunch at Ian’s school. I still can’t believe he ate 4.5 servings of canned spinach. When I’ve ever seen the massive veggie counts from school, I’ve just assumed they mis-counted, or some kid next to him ate the veggies. But he really ate them. So now I don’t feel so bad when he doesn’t want them at home.
Then it off to make and decorate cupcakes for grandma’s July birthday that we finally got to celebrate. I think we consumed half the chocolate chips instead of decorating with them. But at least it was fun.
